New South Wales Local Government Association Annual Conference
Each year representatives of the local councils who are members of the NSW Local Government and Shires Association meet to debate issues that effect local government. In 2006 the conference was hosted by the Blue Mountains City Council at the spectacular York Fairmont Resort in Leura.
The conference was opened by the Governor of NSW, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, with State Government Ministers and other VIP's addressing delegates on the primary issues effecting local government. The keynote presentation from former Prime Minister The Honourable Paul Keating attracted substantial media coverage.
The theme for the conference was "Community - A Sense of Place" and this theme was evident throughout the conference. Local producers and service providers were engaged to provide the entertainment at social functions and local produce was served at lunch and the evening events. The Blue Mountains Artists Company added to this flavour by displaying their paintings and sculptures in a conference art gallery. The conference contributed $1.1m into the local economy.
A large trade exhibition provided an opportunity for companies to gain access to the decision makers within local government to demonstrate their products and services.
The social program included events at the Fairmont Resort and the majestic Carrington Hotel in Katoomba. The Katoomba Aquatic Centre was transformed into a sophisticated dining venue for the Gala Dinner.
Conexion Event Management worked with the Blue Mountains City Council and the NSW Local Government and Shires Association in delivering this event.
Conexion were not only exceedingly professional to work with they also created a friendly and welcoming event for our delegates. Could only recommend them to you with absolute confidence in their ability to deliver.
