International Ratings Conference

The International Ratings Conference was hosted by the Commonwealth Attorney General's Department through the Office of Film and Literature Classification. The conference brought together regulators, distributors and developers of entertainment media. It was seen as an important step towards meeting the challenges of providing classification frameworks to meet the needs of local communities within the continuously evolving global media economy.

The event was opened by the then Attorney General, the Honourable Philip Ruddock MP, with presentations by speakers from around the world from both english and non-english speaking backgrounds.

As the international 'ratings community' is relatively small many of the delegates were well known to each other and so it was very important to create an environment that not only facilitated learning but also social exchange. The choice of venue provided the environment whereby delegates could maximise opportunities to network.

The social program was another important forum for networking as well as showcasing Sydney to a wide range of international delegates. Conexion, in conjunction with the organising committee, created three social events. A welcome reception at the Argyle Cellars in the historic Rocks precinct, an Aussie BBQ on a cruise ship and a formal dinner at a prestige waterside venue.

"I would like to thank you for making this conference such a productive and delightful experience from my perspective.

With renewed thanks, well deserved congratulations and best regards"
