Conexion Wins Best Conference Award   Conexion Event Management was the winner in the 'Best Meeting or Conference' category at the inaugural Australian Event Awards held last week at Sydney's Westin Hotel.   The awards featured a national competition designed to recognise excellence, reward innovation and unite the events industry. The judging panel was headed up by former Sydney Olympics chief Sandy Hollway AO.   Conexion's award was for the staging of the 2008 Trans-Tasman Endodontic Conference (TTEC); organised for the Australian Society of Endodontology (ASE). An innovative meeting and trade exhibition brought together Endodontologists from Australia and New Zealand.   In only eleven months, Conexion and ASE were able to work together to create a successful event which reached almost four hundred delegates and delivered ASE a surplus with which to fund its ongoing activities.   Conexion's Managing Director, Robyn Johnson AMM*, said that the Conference's outstanding result was based on an extremely close and cooperative relationship with the client "After twenty years in the industry there is no doubt in my mind that the most important factor in a successful event is the relationship between the Event Manager and the Conference Organising Committee. In the case of TTEC our professional advice was readily accepted and a collaborative approach was taken by both parties".   TTEC was held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart in November 2008. The Conference ran for three days and included plenary lectures, trade exhibitions and pre-conference workshops. It was designed to have broad appeal to all dental professionals with an interest in endodontics: general practitioners, all specialty groups and post-graduate students. The Conference featured an array of national and international speakers, all leaders in their field, which ensured that delegates were exposed to the latest advances in research as well as clinical techniques in endodontology. * Accredited Meetings Manager
